A Reader Sends Us Some Info On Daddy Blunt, and the Blunt Political Machine!!!

Draft Jim Kreider:

U.S. Representative Roy Blunt has lost his down to earth sense he had when he went to congress in 1996. His own chief of staff and himself have given Tom Delay over $20,000 for his legal defense fund. It seems that Mr. Blunt wants to look like he is being loyal to Republicans by supporting Delay, while most think Mr. Delay will step down by the first of the year and Blunt will move from the number three to number two position. Mr. Blunt clearly wants to have his cake and eat it too. Blunt is the head of the Missouri congressional leadership just what we need, more corruption and indictments in our state. Then you have former State Representative and former Speaker of the Missouri House Jim Kreider who was known statewide as a people person who has a keen sense of what is important to the citizens. He understands that he works for the citizens rather than the other way around. Jim Kreider had a reputation while Speaker for bringing people and both sides together to get things done. We need a person like Kreider to get things moving in Congress. A website tells more of the effort to Draft Mr. Kreider.

Sincerely,Steven L. Reed

A July 12, 2004 Washington Post story states a political action committee ran by Tom Delay requested Kenneth Lay send money. Delay directed money from corporations and Washington lobbyist to Republican campaign coffers in 2001 and 2002 as plan to redraw the voting districts. So Texas congressional districts were decided with tainted money!

I have met Jim Kreider, and one of the things that stood out the most for me, was how sincere he was. He's in politics because he has a genuine interest in helping people, but he's far from a career politician. He's a farmer from Nixa Missouri, and as real of a human being as it gets.

Please bring Jim Kreider back!!! He's the best thing to happen to S/W Missouri in a long time. Our state senator, Mr. Dan Clemens, has done nothing since he was elected to his position. I still haven't figured out how he beat J.K. We need Jim Kreider in Washington to give Southwest Missourians the representation we deserve.

I am not sure I agree. I think that Roy has shown courage during his time in Congress. The man has conviction, something that is far from common in the political world these days. I can respect that.

The question is, do his convictions parallel the convictions of his constituency? I'm not sure that conviction and courage alone warrant any sort of praise. The real measure of a man is not that he has conviction but in what he has conviction.

Draft Kreider Planning Meeting a Success!

The first public planning meeting for the Draft Jim Kreider movement was held today in Springfield. Progressive Democrats from four counties made the trek to Greene County and enjoyed a successfully productive gathering.

The first item on the agenda was the self-introduction of all participants and sharing of personal reasons for getting involved.

One of the reasons for attending the organizational meeting was given by Wesley Radford who is 'tired of the mess' and believes, "the welfare of the people should be the supreme law of the land."

Everyone agreed.

According to Christian County resident and a founding member of the organization Jeff Kenkel, our government is not fulfilling it's obligation to 'we the people'.

"Promises that have been made to people have been broken," Kenkel said. "And our system has become a one party system leaving no room for input from the rest of us."

Betty Kowalewich, a Stone County Democrat, pointed out that we need to do everything in our power to remove Roy Blunt.

"Roy is about Roy... period," Kowalewich said. "We should be inviting Republicans to these meetings because he is hurting them too."

There were too many people with too many reasons supporting the need to Draft Jim Kreider and replace Roy Blunt to fully report.

According to Steven L. Reed, founding member, there are over 300 Team Captains planted throughout the District who are committed to the effort and have been distributing literature and bumper stickers door-to-door and festivals across Southwest Missouri.

He also reports the organizational web site ( is now receiving in excess of 5,000 visitors a month.

"The response to our efforts to draft Jim Kreider has been phenomenal," Reed said. "It is great to get to the point where we are conducting so much activity with so many players that we have to sit down and have organizational meetings."

"We've come a long way," he continued. "Who would have known when we started this effort that we would be where we are today. Hopefully our efforts will result in an announced Candidacy and Victory for Jim Kreider over Roy Blunt."
